We were very fortunate to have Prof. Wylie Vale of the Salk Institute as the keynote speaker for the meeting. Prof. Vale's research interests are in the structures, regulation and biological roles of neuroendocrine hormones and growth factors and their receptors. His keynote address was entitled "Corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) & urocortin receptors: roles in stress and beyond."
The opening night activities were held at the Rolleston Lecture Theatre, Christchurch School of Medicine & Health Sciences. The Saturday sessions were held at the Chateau on the Park, 189 Deans Avenue.
The presentation judged to be best overall will be recognised with a travel grant of $2,000 from the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation to assist with attendance at another national or international research conference. There will also be two cash prizes for the best student presentation.
